At STEE, Varun leads the applied research and technical initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and trustworthy AI. In his role, he drives research in AI threat modeling, privacy-preserving training, and defenses against emerging threats like prompt injections, jailbreaks, and model poisoning, while actively mentoring junior researchers and translating complex AI concepts into practical security capabilities.
With over 17 years of experience across Oracle, CSG International, Ness Technologies, and startups, he has delivered large-scale technology solutions for global clients in telecommunications, analytics, and enterprise platforms. After more than a decade in industry, Varun returned to academia to pursue a NUS Master of Science in Business Analytics, graduating with Distinction, serving as a Research Assistant, and publishing research in the prestigious ACM TOMM journal.
